My initial thoughts on narrative images
The problem with my first attempt at narrative images, is that I was not perfectly clear on what I had to do, as I was not in when the homework was set. However I soldiered on and created a series of images which I had conducted after finding a poem about a garden on the internet. I had decided to take inspiration from a poem because Mr. Nicholl's had recommended when he set the homework. I also think it is a simple and effective idea.
I also thought it was a good idea to take pictures of flowers. Although some say that taking picture of flowers is an unoriginal and cliche, I think it is an efficient way of practising ones photography skills when it comes to portraying the uses of light and colour.

Duane Michals
The artist which we had to base our homework on was Duane Michals. He is an American photographer who makes narrative sequences through images which, in a way, are slightly dark but very original and creative at the same time. A personal favourite of his work, is a sequence of images in which a small girl explores a clothing rack and the clothes on the rack kidnap her. It's slightly dark sequences like this that make his images really unique. This piece is called 'the boogeyman'.
